Brooklyn’s own, House of Jackie Brown, might be the hottest swimwear to hit…well I don’t know, but this shit it HOT. I am so pissed that (A) I wasn’t invited to this event and (B) I didn’t know about it until after the fact. The swimwear is hot, the party looked dope being at the pool and all… oh and Roxy Cottontail performed.

If you haven’t seen or heard of THOJB, I urge you to check it out.

The diet starts tomorrow, I am getting one of these suits for summer. Effing hot. hot. hot. All pics (via) – and more pics – can be found at The House of Jackie Brown Blog.

YES!!!!!
This gets me full of the stoke.
Via the Brooklyn Paper:
At ease, hipsters, it now looks like the “pool parties” will be back this summer.
The state Department of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation has backtracked from its announcement six weeks ago that East River State Park would not be able to accommodate Jelly NYC’s concert series for a second year, paving the way to a summer of outdoor music and dance.
“There’s still some paperwork, but as far as state parks is concerned, there will be concerts,” said Rachel Gordon, the regional director for state parks.
It’s unclear what the sticking point was, but the prospect of a concert-less summer prompted community groups and Sen. Chuck Schumer — an apparent “pool party” fan — to rally for another year in East River State Park, the default location after the parties were booted in 2008 from McCarren Park Pool so that space could be restored as an actual swimming hole.
Jelly NYC founder Alexander Kane, who has spent the last five years bringing in big names like Grizzly Bear, TV on the Radio and the Beastie Boys, wasn’t sure why his series got a new lease on life, but he was happy anyway.
“It’s good to know everything’s right on track,” Kane said. “We’re going tos go pretty big this year for our fifth anniversary.
“It’ll be our coolest year yet,” he said.
Last years line up is pretty hard to beat. Can’t wait to see who they book for next summer.

Via Free Williamsburg:
The future of the Pool Parties at the East River State Park could be in jeopardy. After a very successful 2009 season with 8 weeks of free performances including Grizzly Bear, Girl Talk, The Black Lips, Dirty Projectors, Deerhunter, Dan Deacon, No Age, Mission of Burma, Beach House, and Simian Mobile Disco, news came from the New York State Parks Department and the Open Space Alliance that the East River State Park may not be available to JELLY for the 2010 season. This will ultimately put an end to the flourishing free summer series.U.S. Senator Charles Schumer, a Brooklyn native, is now leading the fight to save the JELLY Pool Parties. The Senator took the stage at the last Pool Party in August 2009 and pledged that the free concert series would return to the waterfront in 2010. Senator Schumer and his staff have been campaigning for the Pool Parties to remain at the East River State Park, speaking to other state and city officials to ensure JELLY’s free summer series will be back for a 5th year.
So what can YOU do to keep the pool parties alive? Call or email your Senator! Chuckie hung out at the parties last summer, you might have seen him. He gave a speech before Grizzly Bear promising to pass health care with a call to keep the parties coming. Let’s hope he lives up to his word. Here’s Jelly’s:
JELLY is reaching out to the community to call Senator Charles Schumer at (212) 486-4430, or via email phil@schumer.senate.gov to show their support and express any concerns on behalf of this tremendous free community program. The Senator will relay the public opinion to the NYS Parks Department and the Open Space Alliance.
The New York Times has a quote from Schumer who says he’ll do everything he can to keep them around.
“I happened to pass by the Jelly concerts when I was riding my bike through Williamsburg and was amazed at the thousands of people who lined the streets to come to the concerts,” the senator said on Wednesday. “People from every part of the country who had made their way to Brooklyn, enjoying music and one another’s company – it’s the best of New York. When I heard that the concerts might be canceled, I couldn’t understand why, given that this is exactly what our parks are supposed to be for, and I am going to do everything I can to see that they continue.”
OMG!!!!! This is tragic. Year after year, the Jelly Pool Parties continue to deliver with artists on the rise. The 2009 lineup was redonkeydonk. First they replace the pool with the park, now they try and take away the park…. ummmm. I don’t think so. BK has the best summer concert series by far. Let’s keep it that way.
Everyone PAH-LEASE call our boy Schumer.

Just because summer is technically over this weekend, the weather will still be friendly for the next few months. You still have time to bask in the sun and drink all day and night. Just because your summer share is over, doesn’t mean the party has to end….here are two places that will help you keep it goin.
Suffolk Beach:
City beaches aka fake beaches were all the rage this summer, but The Suffolk is a little guy noone really knows about. New York Mag says, ” The Suffolk is a neighborhood bar, a performance space, and a mini-urban-beach all rolled into one…Beach—owner Drew Figueroa poured a truckload of sand onto the open space in the back of the bar and threw in blue-lined beach chairs, tiki torches, a couple of Lacoste beach towels, and a barbecue to top it off. The place might be a little deserted on weekdays, but come weekends, locals can be seen grilling patties on the barbecue, enjoying cheap beer, and doing their best to ignore the adjoining parking lot. Friday and Saturday nights, local bands perform in the space for no cover.”

Berry Park:
There is nothing I like more than a little Sunday Funday beer garden fun, except when that fun lies in my neighborhood. Berry Park opened earlier this month and is giving Radegast Hall & Beer Garden a run for its money. Why? You ask… well this beer garden doesn’t have a measly retractable roof. It actually has a roof deck! Yeah… that’s right… you heard me… a roof deck. This indoor-outdoor beer haven has over 15 beers on tap, a huge screen for movies, sporting events, and that old school drinking in your friends barn type feel. Oh… you never had a friend with a barn and snuck cases of Bud Light back there as a teen… man you missed out.
